Dynamics of Domestic Violence for Health Care
This workshop is designed for current and future health care providers (students, nurses, medical assistants, residents, doctors, anyone practicing in a clinical setting). This workshop reviews the dynamics and basics of domestic abuse and then gives practical, concrete actions that health care workers can take to support a person impacted by domestic violence. Participants will explore specific screening tools for domestic violence, identification of violence, health impacts of domestic violence, how to ask about domestic violence, how to best respond to a client who positively discloses domestic violence, and how to empower patients to keep themselves safe.
Dynamics of Domestic Violence for Law Enforcement
Domestic Violence (DV) is one of the most dangerous situations law enforcement will encounter in the line of duty and law enforcement has a pivotal role to play in the intervention of DV. This workshop prepares law enforcement by examining the dynamics of domestic abuse, to examine context, effect, and impact of trauma response when called to a scene, and strategies for interviewing a victim in crisis and referring them to DAIS or a local DV agency.
Teen Dating Violence for Youth Workers
Adults in schools and in the community can serve as a powerful resource for teens who experience or know someone who is experiencing dating violence. The way disclosure is handled can deeply impact whether a victim will continue to seek help. This training provides information about what dating violence looks like, how to compassionately respond to a disclosure, mandatory reporting, how to approach a teen for whom you are concerned, basic information on safety planning and what resources are available for teens experiencing dating violence in Dane County. This session is great for school social workers and school counselors.
Domestic Violence in the Workplace
Learn about how domestic violence affects everything from productivity to workplace safety and learn how you can be a source of support to a co-worker or employee who is experiencing domestic violence.
Domestic Violence in the Salon
Often, we hear from cosmetologists that the salon is a community. The salon could also be one of the first places someone might disclose domestic violence or intimate partner violence. This workshop is for current or future cosmetologists to learn about the signs of domestic violence, the prevalence, how to respond if you receive a disclosure, and resources that are available to help clients experiencing domestic violence.
Impact of Domestic Violence on Kids
Kids are significantly impacted by living in a home with domestic violence. This workshop addresses how domestic violence impacts kids, factors that impact how a kid responds to trauma, strategies for mitigating the impact of trauma, how to support parents, and understanding maladaptive or coping mechanisms utilized by kids at different ages.

Any organization or person can become trauma informed! Learn about the significant impact trauma has in Intimate Partner Violence, the roots of trauma, how trauma affects the brain, and how to implement a more trauma informed environment within your practice, office, or organization.
