Adopt-a-Family 2026 is now open!

What is Adopt a Family?

Adopt a Family is a program that allows DAIS to continue to care about the people we’ve served, even when they’re no longer an active client. We want to do everything we can to continue to support their safety and independence.  So, every year, we invite clients from the current calendar year to create a Holiday Wish List. We then match the Wish List with a donor in the community who will help fulfill that family’s wishes for the holiday season. Businesses and organizations can choose to adopt a family as well.

If you want to participate in this longterm proven giving program, fill out the adopt a family donor registration. We ask that donor families plan to spend about $100 per person, so we can match you with families that match your budget.

How does the family get their gifts?

The core purpose of Adopt-A-Family remains the same: community members provide holiday gifts directly for DAIS clients. This year, however, the process will be more structured. Rather than coordinator donor and client pick-ups over several weeks, DAIS will offer designated dates and times for donor drop-off and client pick-up. The front entryway will be decorated, and welcoming volunteers will be available to greet and assist donors and clients during these scheduled times.

December 7th & December 8th is the donor drop off, between 2pm – 8 pm.

What is the timeline for the Adopt-a-Family program?

✩ October 5th – 31st — donor and client sign up

✩ November 1st -12th — matching families and wishlists sent to donors

✩ December 7th & December 8th — donor drop off, between 2pm – 8 pm

✩ Client pickup begins December 10th. 

Anything else to know?

  • Many clients ask for gift cards as they regain their autonomy so they may pick out gifts for their children themselves. If you are not comfortable providing gift cards, DAIS has alternate donation programs that may be a better fit, including our amazon wishlist. 
  • This year, we are asking that donors wrap all ADULT gifts.
  • Children’s gifts will need to be unwrapped so that the parent can see what their child is getting and have some agency in the gift process. Please provide gift wrap supplies for the children’s gifts in addition to the gifts themselves.
