Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is held throughout the month of October as a way to bring advocates across the nation together to end domestic violence. Communities and advocacy organizations across the country will connect with one another in a true sense of unity to end domestic violence for good.

Join us at the Capitol on Sunday, October 1st, from noon to 1pm for a rally to kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month! DAIS staff and volunteers, survivors, allies, and community leaders will be getting together to raise awareness of intimate partner violence and stand in support of survivors everywhere. Speakers will include Wisconsin State Senator Melissa Agard, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, UNIDOS Executive Director Virginia Gittens Escudero, and DAIS Executive Director Shannon Barry.

We will be adding events throughout October, so make sure to check back for updates and additional details!

Host an Event for DAIS

Events hosted by members of our community are vital for DAIS. Many people don’t know about the array of services that DAIS offers, and they are also unaware of the prevalence of domestic violence in Dane County. You can help us raise awareness and financial assistance by having a casual event at your home or business. A DAIS staff member would gladly attend to help you spread the word.

If you are interested in hosting an event for DAIS, see our Community Event Toolkit and contact us at devcomm@abuseintervention.org or call 608-251-1237 ext. 308
