The Family Advocate provides short-term, crisis-based case management services to victims of domestic violence during their stay in the DAIS emergency shelter while simultaneously supporting daily living needs of clients within the shelter facility. The Family Advocate works collaboratively with clients on their goals by providing emotional support, advocacy, safety planning, resource navigation, parenting guidance, and referrals to community resources, and ensures high-quality service provision within the shelter by offering crisis intervention, assisting residents with basic needs, and collaborating with other Family Advocates and Shelter Advocates to address client needs and service concerns. The Family Advocate plays an integral role in the overall functioning of the shelter through on-site coverage and program support throughout their assigned shifts. This is an on-site, awake position. We are seeking a passionate and committed Legal Advocate to join our dedicated team that provides support, information and advocacy to victims of domestic violence as they navigate the legal systems in Dane County. The Legal Advocate provides direct services to victims, including court accompaniment, and assistance with legal referrals, restraining orders, civil, criminal, and other court matters. The Legal Advocate acts as a Service Representative per WI§ 895.45., is not a lawyer or attorney and does not provide legal advice.

The Operations Manager provides oversite, coordination, and support for all building and technology related needs and activities as well as special projects, ensuring effective results when working with contractors, vendors, and volunteers. The Operations Manager brings forward recommendations on facility and technological needs while ensuring current needs are met and maintained in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The Operations Manager collaborates with others across the organization to identify and address facility issues and advance compliance with applicable rules and regulations. In addition, the Operations Manager oversees the Security team and maintains protocols and procedures to ensure building safety and client confidentiality.

The Shelter Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that our day-to-day residential shelter operations run smoothly and that our residents have a safe, dignified and empowered experience during their stays. The Shelter Coordinator ensures shift coverage needs are met, hires staff and provides extensive and consistent onboarding, orientation, training, staff supervision and support. The Shelter Coordinator must remain actively and professionally engaged with staff and volunteers to ensure success, must maintain a physical presence in our shelter while working, and must perform direct service work with clients as needed. In addition, this position participates in an on-call rotation to support staff. DAIS Shelter Advocates work to ensure that victims of intimate partner violence and their children staying in our emergency shelter have a safe, dignified, and empowered experience as they work to address the impact of intimate partner violence in their lives. Shelter Advocates utilize the principles of trauma informed care and the empowerment philosophy of advocacy to support DAIS clients. Shelter Advocates help to maintain cleanliness and order in shelter common areas while engaging residents in efforts, clean and prepare rooms for new residents, assist with daily living needs, conduct shelter intakes and orientations, and communicate communal living guidelines. The Shelter Advocate role is an awake position; current coverage needs include weekdays, weekends, occasional overnights, and holidays as needed.
