Community Awareness and Prevention Education (CAPE)

Here are a few of the workshops available to businesses and community groups. Please consider inviting us into your organization to have a healthy conversation about the dynamics and impact of domestic violence. No group size is too small.

Domestic Violence 101 and the Dynamics of Abuse

The Domestic Violence 101 and Dynamics of Abuse workshop is for groups who want to learn more about the prevalence of domestic violence (DV), the power and control dynamics in an abusive relationship, barriers to leaving a relationship, and how to support someone who is victimized by intimate partner violence. This workshop also addresses intersectionality in the experience of domestic violence.

Domestic Violence in the LGBTQ Community

A workshop for those who know about the dynamics of domestic violence and who want to look more in-depth at how domestic violence is both different and the same in the LGBTQ community. This workshop covers basic terminology, pronoun usage, barriers unique to LGBTQ people, and how to support LGBTQ survivors.

Root Causes of Intimate Partner Violence

This workshop focuses on looking at the root causes of Intimate Partner Violence: gender socialization, toxic masculinity, rape culture, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of oppression. Participants will learn how these ideas and institutions create an environment where violence is more likely, normalized, and justified.

Trauma Informed Care

Any organization or person can become trauma informed! Learn about the significant impact trauma has in Intimate Partner Violence, the roots of trauma, how trauma affects the brain, and how to implement a more trauma informed environment within your practice, office, or organization.

Men as Allies in Ending Domestic Violence

This training is specifically for male-identified people who want to learn more about how they can get involved in the movement to end domestic violence. Participants learn concrete ways to support those impacted by domestic violence and help male allies determine when to intervene and provides skill-building and role-place practice with concreter active bystander techniques.

We ask that you schedule at least one month prior to your event date. We do our best to accommodate all requests, but please note our ability to confirm your request depends on staff ability.

Once we receive your email, you will be asked to fill out a Community Awareness and Prevention Education (CAPE) Interest Form that will help us tailor your presentation to best fit the needs of your group.
