Capital Campaign Highlights
In May 2011, DAIS was the recipient of proceeds from the Merrill Lynch Grand Gala. Dollars raised up to $500,000 were matched by Loren & Boo Mortenson. The event raised $1,034,000 – the largest fundraiser in Madison’s history!
In September 2011, DAIS closed on the our new property. Formerly a warehouse and small machine repair shop, the building will undergo dramatic changes including renovation of the front half of the existing building and a new two-story addition in the back.
In October 2011, County Executive Joe Parisi announced that the Dane County CDBG Commission has awarded DAIS a $462,579 Public Facilities Grant. DAIS applied for $475,300, so the request was nearly 100% funded! Funds are being used to cover the predevelopment costs, including architecture and engineering fees.
Architectural firm Potter Lawson Architects and Ideal Builders were chosen to design and build the new facility. The project plans are currently being finalized.
On August 1, 2012, DAIS went public with the capital campaign at a launch party that was held at the future home of DAIS.
In November 2012, DAIS was the beneficiary of the Madison Club Foundation’s Annual Charity Gala, and raised over $120,000, setting a new record for the most the gala had raised.
In December 2012, DAIS celebrated passing the halfway mark to its campaign goal.
In February 2013, Governor Scott Walker proposed $560,000 be included in the state budget to fund DAIS’ building project.
